A writ is a directive issued by the Supreme Court and the High Courts of India to implement their directives on the enforcement of the fundamental right and/or legal right of the person concerned. The Supreme Court may issue writs pursuant to Article 32 of the Constitution, while the High Courts may issue writs pursuant to Article 226 of the Constitution.
